ABOUT THE ACTE GLOBAL CENTRE FOR RESEARCH AND EDUCATION
Built on a History of Innovation and Education
For over 16 years, the Association of Corporate Travel Executives (ACTE) has been
providing its members with leading educational programmes that address the critical
issues facing the travel and transportation industry.
Through its global conferences, web casts, regional conferences and executive forums,
ACTE’s educational programmes reach more than 6,000 travel professionals annually. ACTE’s membership
in 49 countries includes senior executives involved in the purchase and supply of travel.
They include representatives from the leading private sector corporations, as well
as airlines, travel management companies, hotels, technology companies, car rental
agencies among many others.
ACTE members have benefited greatly from the commitment to education made possible
through the generosity of the supplier members who have underwritten many of the costs
associated with educational sessions of all types. These suppliers continue to sponsor a wide
range of activities, ranging from meal functions to education session to surveys and white
papers. Our industry appreciates these contributions and remains in their debt. In
addition, the corporate members of ACTE give tirelessly of their time to share best
practices, participate on panels and deliver presentations around the globe.
Recognizing the Need for a New Model
Given the changing landscape of our industry, ACTE recognizes that a new model is necessary - a new model that will allow the increasing demand or requirement for leading education and research to be satisfied without placing unrealistic expectations upon industry suppliers. To advance our educational mission, ACTE believes that it is unreasonable to expect the burden of costs for this research and education to remain largely with the suppliers. In the end, it is the users of the education, the corporate buyers, who are indeed covering the costs that inevitably are incorporated into their suppliers’ operating costs. A new model is needed where the funding of education and research is shared amongst all parties who benefit from the investment. ACTE has designed a model to support this vision.
A Model for the Future
ACTE has established the ACTE Global Centre for Research and Education. This global
centre will conduct research and develop educational programmes in partnership with
leading researchers, corporations, centre’s of excellence, and suppliers, around the
world. ACTE will continue to involve its members in the presentation of educational
programmes, but in addition, individuals will have the opportunity to collaborate with
those leading the most innovative educational research in our industry.
The ACTE Global Centre for Research and Education is led by a strong Board of Directors
who are committed to bringing innovation to educational research for our industry.
The ACTE Global Centre has already embarked on this journey. High-level educational
materials and educational sessions will be made available discussing topics such as
